JOB SUMMARY:This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary for Science. The employee serves as Scientific Diving Program Specialist in the SI-Scientific Diving Program and Marine Science Specialist in the SI-Marine Science Network and is responsible for assisting SDO with diver training certification and recertification of SI and non-SI scientists diving under the auspices of the Smithsonian Institution.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Experience:
One year of full-time experience at the GS-11 level that is close or similar to the work of this job. The experience includes progressively responsible experience in management and training in a scientific diving program or marine research program, including lecturing on scientific diving, writing and organizing events.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
Qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.
Candidates applying to this position must possess:
- Current scientific diving certification
- Diving leadership certification and
- Equipment maintenance experience
