Environmental Education Programme Coordinator and Conservation Programme Assistant

We are looking for a person from Tanzania (preferably Zanzibar) who holds a degree in marine ecology or marine related subjects to assist the Conservation Co-ordinator. The applicant must speak Kiswahili and fluent English, have good computer knowledge, a team worker and be able to swim. Experience in marine research preferred and an interest in environmental education important.

The available position involves a variety of tasks, for example:


  • To arrange logistics for the Chumbe Environmental Education Programme.
  • To write reports to specified deadlines
  • To assist ongoing research and data analysis
  • General administration
  • Practical work on the island and supervision of school trips in the field.

We would like to see the position as a long term job with the possibility of taking over the Conservation Co-ordinator role. Applicants with an intention of continuing higher education within a year or less will not be considered. Starting salary from 300,000 Tsh per month depending on qualifications and experience.
