Reef Check California Southern California Program Manager

My favorite community-based dive research program, Reef Check, is looking to fill an important position. (Note to Craig: Are you heading off to Tahiti or something?) They are looking for a marine biologist with Dive Instructor or Dive Master certification to serve as the southern California Program Manager. Below are the details. Located at our headquarters on the beach in Pacific Palisades (or possibly via home office in San Diego or Orange counties), this position will entail significant travel and diving throughout the southern California Bight. The Program Manager will carry out field surveys, schedule and conduct trainings, help with outreach activities, and manage day to day operations of the program in the region. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of coastal management and fisheries issues in California, excellent taxonomic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with recreational divers, academic researchers and regulatory agency personnel. Experience working in a dive shop or within the dive industry will be an advantage.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of Master's degree in marine biology or related field (or equivalent experience) Accredited research diving certification (e.g. AAUS or University of California) Extensive research diving experience in California's coastal waters Certification of Dive Instructor or Dive Master
