About Us
People no longer look for merely hardware and software, they are looking for holistic solutions that take into acccount a multitude of human factors.
Founded in 2005, Blue Planet Divers was launched to provide a portal to divers, both scientific and recreational, interested in all aspects of research diving. Traffic to the site has grown rapidly, and I realized that many of my visitors were seeking ways to reach out globally, via the internet, with their own visions. Hence Blue Planet Consultants was initially conceived.
I've been involved with multimedia since 1984, when I worked on the Electronic Whole Earth Catalog (EWEC), a then-revolutionary product that combined sound, graphics, and pictures (oh my!) on an informational CD-ROM. (Stewart Brand [founder of Whole Earth Catalog], Kevin Kelly, and Howard Rheingold, all involved with EWEC, went on to help build WIRED magazine.)
I created my first web page in 1993, using HotDog for HTML coding, and Jeffrey Zeldman's whimsical icons to liven up my static page.
Today, my toolbox includes Movable Type, a server side web-publishing platform that has helped create the Web 2.0 buzz, which is basically all about participating in an on-line global community. My specialty is creating web presences for non-profits, especially those dealing with conservation issues. Recent projects incude redesigning the site of the Monterey Chapter of the California Native Plant Society and creating The Chuck Haugen Conservation Fund web site. I also designed and launched SiliconValley Watcher, which has recieved a number of awards (e.g., CNET Top 100 Blog, Best Bay Area Blog) since its launch in 2004.
My strategies for your success include networking and relationship building with the best talent in the creative IT sector, and creating a "community of practice" using Web 2.0 technologies.
Email me about your professional needs. My resume can be viewed here. I look forward to hearing from you!
